Gear Design and Analysis
First Gear
First Gear is you first step in automatically guided gear design. It guides you through various input data steps
for making preliminary design calculations for external spur and helical gears.
Features:
_ Calculates dozens of design parameters
_ Plots the gear mesh
_ Plots the gear with measurement pins (or balls)
_ Estimates load capacity
_ Single key switch from inch to metric units or vice versa
_ On-line, context-sensitive help
Over 75 TK Models
UTS has developed over 75 gear-related TK Solver models for your immediate use. The expert system will
optimize center distance, backlash, addendum/dedendum changes (cutter feed), design tooling, check for
producibility of gears, minimize weight, and much more.
Features:
_ External spur and helical gears.
_ Internal gears.
_ Worm gears.
_ Epicyclic gear trains.
_ Completely visible critical design formulas.
_ Tooth profiles and gear mesh plots generated.
_ Molded gear design and tooling.
Benefits:
_ Save design time up to 80%.
_ Reduce noise.
_ Increase life.
_ Reduce weight.
_ Reduce tooling inventory.
_ Reduce scrap cost.
_ Develop better designs, faster.
_ Troubleshoot a design on the fly.
_ Develop new designs easily as well as evaluate existing designs.
_ Accelerate training of employees.
_ Reduce manufacturing costs as much as 40%.
Program 500
This program is an advanced gear analysis program for external involute gears and splines. It analyzes spur
or helical gear sets and verifies that tools (such as hobs, shaper cutters, shaving cutters, grinding wheels,
etc.) will produce the gears without problems in the shop.
Unlike all other applications in the UTS Family of Products, Program 500 is configured to run independently
from TK Solver. It has been configured to guide you as the design process continues with a series of dynamic
defaults for most of the entries required. A large scale plot of the gear tooth is provided as an aid to
understanding the printed numerical data. The AGMA strength factor, J, and the AGMA durability factor, I, are
calculated for all types of parallel axis involute gears covered by AGMA 908-B89.
Program 500 is available with a number of options to enable you to analyze various geometry, operating
conditions, and tools:
Option
1:Basic Program with hobbing. Allows use of non-topping standard lead or short lead hobs.
Option
2:Basic Program with shaping. Allows use of non-topping shaper cutters.
Option
4:Shaving Cutters. Allows use of crossed axis shaving cutters.
Option
5:Specific Sliding Ratio. Allows calculation and plotting of the ratio (Sliding Velocity)/(Rolling
Velocity), an indicator of efficiency, scoring, and noise generation.
Option
6:Tip Relief, Topping, and Semi-Topping Hobs.
Option
7:J-Factor Balancing. Provides automatic balancing of strength factors for driver and driven to obtain
maximum strength for the gear set.
Option
8:Fillet Grinding. Provides input of a 揤-Section?grinding wheel. (Fillet need not be ground.)
Option
40:UTS Data File Access. Connects program output to other programs such as CAD/CAM, tooling
database, etc.
Option
50:Integrated Tooling Database. Designs a cutting tool, automatically searches for the closest tool
available in your database, and re-runs Program 500 with the new data. |
