On April 1, 2009, users trying to run NX Nastran found that it stopped with an NSINIT Error 70 in the log file. The problem is related to a date check, carried out in an initialization routine that is run at startup of NX Nastran. As this issue can be traced back the source code of early versions of Nastran, this error is also being reported by other competitive Nastran products.
Siemens PLM has resolved the problem with a software patch that changes a binary integer value and in effect changes the date check algorithm to allow the program initialization to proceed. The benefit of this approach is that there is no change in the compute engine, memory map, or any other portion of the application that would affect results from NX Nastran.
A modified "analysis" executable for each version and platform of the product, is available from our download site. The appropriate executable files may be found at the Siemens PLM GTAC site, and is available in the form of "NXNVersion_Platform".tar.gz on unix and linux platforms and "NXNVersion_Platform".zip on Windows platforms.
Installation Instructions
This update package contains executable files which replace the current analysis executables. These executables need to be copied over the corresponding executables in an existing installation. To accomplish this the tar or zip file needs to be saved in the NX Nastran installation above the /bin directory and then untarred or unzipped. This will overwrite the existing "analysis" executables with the patched executables in the proper location in the installation. The tar or zip file may then be deleted. |
